DAY TEN ~ Santa Cruise Island, the Charles Darwin Station (continued)

Peter Gallego gets as close as he can without actually touching the tortoise, which is strictly forbidden.

Peter Vriethoff gets a little closer, and it almost looks like he plans on going for a ride.

AWwwwww! Now that is a really cute pose Elina. You seem to have caught his eye though.

Of course Pete and I won't be left out. However, if I were to squat like Pete, I'd need help getting back up.

Lonesome George eyeing some tempting leaves, as a small lava lizard watches from behind him.

Next we visit the lair of the land iguanas. They are quite stunning in their golden color.

They lay their eggs in burrows, and guard them from any possible invaders, whether man or beast.

Anybody game for a prehistoric monster movie? These guys are auditioning for a major role.
In Chapter 17, some school children will feed the giant tortoises.
