DAY NINE ~ Floreana: Cormorant Point (continued)

Our balcony was small, but still very pleasant to use for reading, and enjoying a cup of coffee.

In the afternoon we visited Cormorant Point. It had a very pleasant beach, and there was a salt water lagoon where you can sometimes find flamingos feeding, but not today.

It's a nice view from this vantage point, but there were no flamingos in the lagoon today.

I felt like Robinson Caruso looking for Friday. You sometimes feel so isolated here in these islands.

Here is a view from Pete's camera. You never know who is candidly taking our picture.

Here is the view from my camera. I thought these little sea lion pups were so cute. I just wanted to get close enough to scratch their little chins. But I was reluctant.

I don't know what these little guys see when they look at us, but they certainly seemed to concentrate.

The tide was out, and here you can see the green moss which the sea iguanas feed on. That little yellow bird was quite inquisitive. We followed him for quite a while, or he followed us. It was hard to tell.

It was certainly a very overcast day, which kept the temperature down. Even so, the hike was still very enjoyable.

We take our shoes off again, making ready for a wet entry into the Zodiacs through the surf.

It was the kind of day that just makes you happy to be alive, and enjoying nature in perfect harmony.

Nature even provides us with a convenient place to sit and take off our shoes. Perfect harmony. Now let's go see what amazing things the chef has created for our dinner tonight. It's bound to be really good.
Back on board the Athala we head for Santa Cruz Island, and along the way a school of dolphins overtakes us and enjoys playing in our wake, and darting ahead of us, kris crossing in front of our bow in a very playful manner.

Dolphins play as we watch in awe at their speed and agility. Anyone who has seen dolphins in the wild like this can appreciate this experience. They are truly amazing creatures.

At dinner this night we had a tortoise created from a cantaloupe, and cactus from ginger root. They never seem to run out of ideas. And the never repeated a meal. Always a pleasant surprise.
Thus ends our DAY NINE. Tomorrow we will be visiting the Charles Darwin Station on Santa Cruz Island, then on to South Plaza. This will be our last stop before returning to Bartholomew Island, where we began this amazing adventure, and where we will catch our flight back to Ecuador. For us it will be to Guayaquil for a tour of that major port city, and a nights stay at the Oro Verde Hotel before catching an early morning return flight to Buenos Aires the next day.
