Galapagos Ch. 7

DAY SIX ~ Rábida Island (Continued)

Jarvis is the English name of Rábida Island. Javier has gathered us at the trail head and is giving us a very interesting nature talk. It turns out that Javier is quite knowledgeable about the flora and fauna fo the Galapagos, not to mention the geological and historical aspects of the islands. I never asked him what his educational background was, but he has quite a store of knowledge.

There is a brackish lagoon behind those trees, and at times there are Flamingos feeding on shrimp that
live in the lagoon, but not this trip. The fleming GO. OK, I’ll try to avoid such failed attempt at humor.

While Javier was giving us his talk, a sea lion staggered onto the scene and blocked the trail that we were about to take.

The sea lion eventually wandered on his way and we continued up the trail.
There was lots of prickly pear cactus along the way. It is a native plant.

Someone had a sense of humor, and made a face on this one.

One of the crew got in some exercise by swimming to shore from the boat.
It is difficult to tell from this distance, but I believe it was Eduardo.

There were some beautiful scenes along the way. I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have.

Peter Gallego was so young in spirit. He seemed to love mimicking nature.

Back on board the Athala that evening, Pete and I engage a few others to join us in our card game.
Peter and Tania Anslow really seemed to enjoy the game, as well as Julia and Laurena.

That night the chefs gave us a rather tropical flare with this unique palm tree creation. I loved their creativity.

My MB meter indicates 4.7 MB, so it is time to move on to a new chapter, and a new day.
