June 2020

This is our old 32" TV in our living room.

It even has a cool phone app you can download to control the TV.

I didn't want a super huge TV that would fill up the room, and I think the size fits perfectly on our little corner table. However, I'll have to find a new place for our whale sculpture we bought way back in 1982 on my first trip to Maui!

Someone commented on our whale sculpture.  It's titled "First Breath", a momma pushing her new born to the surface, we bought it on my first trip to Maui in 1984! My sister Phyllis was impressed by the balance of the artist in mounting it the way they did.

Of course nothing is never easy, this new "SMART" TV was giving me grief, I like to route the sound to external speakers so we can hear the TV better when we have dinner.  I messed with the output jacks and then finally tried Samsung's online technical support chat.  After about an hour I discovered that there is only one audio output jack and I needed to purchase a Digital -> Analog converter box.  Luckily they had one on MercadoLibre (Argentina's version of EBay or Amazon) and it actually arrived the next day.

I tried hooking the converter up and it wasn't working, I tried different configurations and was just about to give up when I turned on the TV and the sound started coming through the speakers as I wanted.  But plugging in my media stick and watching a show on that, the sound wouldn't work.  This made no sense to me at all.  Then I thought of connecting our old media player again to the TV, I was trying to get rid of the old technology, but then it started working with the old media player box!  I guess it's two steps forward, one step backward!  So now we have our new TV and got the speakers working the way we wanted!
