Orkney/Shetland

Between South Georgia and the
Antarctic peninsula, we passed through the South Orkney Islands / South Shetland Islands in the Scotia Sea

Sunday, December 14th, 2008 - We have a few days at sea to get to the Antarctic peninsula.  On the way we went through Lewthwalte Strait of the South Orkney Islands.

It amazes me there are little birds flying way the hell out in the middle of nowhere!

This is all we ever saw of the islands as it was kind of foggy.

However, the islands trapped some big bergs which we were able to cruise amongst.

You can see the penguins on the ice, they would usually get spooked by the ship and jump off as we got near.
