A fully restored sawmill, all the machines were driven off of one engine turning the driveshaft in the middle.
An amazing picture of them cutting down a huge Kauri tree can't imagine they did this with a simple hand saw.
This is in the museum, a Kauri tree had been killed by a bolt of lightening, they used old logging techniques to take the tree down and mill it. This is a "slice" of the Kaori tree.
The Kauri gum which oozes from the tree and then hardens, similiar to ember but much younger, only a few hundred years as opposed to a few million years for ember.
This cracked me up,a hand pump driven vacuum cleaner.
